Saturday Scenography - The Place, London
Day 30. A month since I started writing this scenographic diary, and the day after three extraordinarily exhilarating Critical Costume days - including critical scenography. So much inspiration, so many thoughts. And we even had fun! Today, walking the streets of London, incapable of finding any direction. Walked past The Place, a dance space, established in 1969. The New Swedish Ballet performed there in September 1970, and the London critics did not like it. The archives witness to that, but they also witness to creativity and meaning making processes beyond failiure: they witness in particular to thrilling encounters between dance, choreography, scenography and costume. The Place is still here today and it triggers my scenographic imagination and urge to make dance history.
